There is a general dataset preparation checklist at https://caltechlibrary.github.io/RDMworkbook/data-sharing.html#share-data, which is part of a larger research data management workbook that has lots of useful activities and recommendations. While the checklist could be used with any data repository, it matches well with the CaltechDATA deposit form.
