You may choose to accept or decline EBSCO’s Data Retention and Usage consent form before using LibSearch for the first time.

If you accept the agreement

You can use LibSearch features that involve personalization and identifiers, such as:

  • Save items to folders

  • Access saved folders

  • See your search history

  • Check out ebooks and other materials

After accepting, you will not be prompted to review the Data Retention and Usage consent form again.

How to withdraw consent

You can choose to withdraw your consent at any time, which will delete any previously retained data and account information from EBSCO’s platform. Be sure to save items or permalinks before withdrawing consent.

  • How to withdraw consent: Sign in to LibSearch, select Update My Account at top, select Personal Data Retention and Usage, then select Remove My Data.

If you decline the agreement or withdraw your consent

You will not be able to use the LibSearch features listed above that involve personalization and identifiers, due to regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You will be prompted to accept or decline the consent form each time you use LibSearch.

You can still:

  • Search within and beyond our collections in LibSearch

  • Access content like articles and ebooks

  • Save items to a temporary folder that will expire after your session times out or is closed

You cannot:

  • Permanently save items to a folder

  • View your checkouts, fines and fees, or requests (You will still receive email notifications about these)

  • Place holds or DocuServe requests through LibSearch (You can still place ILL requests through DocuServe)

Data shared with EBSCO when you decline the agreement

No directly-affiliated user information is shared with or stored by EBSCO when users decline the data retention agreement.

  • The IP address is referenced in order to grant access to content when authenticating by IP; it is not logged or saved.

  • Search terms and links clicked are logged in LibSearch for reports and statistics; they are not affiliated with users at all.
