Dimensions, developed by Digital Science, is a new online database for searching and retrieving research papers, grant info, clinical trials, and patents. The free version is available openly worldwide at This version searches publications only.

The full version of the Dimensions database ( is now available to Caltech users who connect  online via the Caltech Internet domain. Proxied access to the full Dimensions data for off-campus users has not been configured yet.

When Dimensions ( is accessed from Caltech IP ranges, you should be able to search all four data types (publications, grants, patents and clinical trials). If it has not worked for any reason then you will only be able to see publications data (as is found in the publicly available version of Dimensions)

Training and user support for Dimensions is under development from the Caltech Library. Please let us know ( how we can help!
