When you are adding citations to a Word document while you write, Zotero offers two different options for viewing the search bar. The default view is:
The second view is called 'Classic View' that some users find easier to navigate:
To switch to 'Classic View' while you are adding citations to your Word document, click on the drop down arrow from the default view and choose 'Classic View':
If you want to make 'Classic View' stick in Word so that you don't have to switch every time you add a citation, go to Zotero Standalone. Then open Edit > Preferences > Cite > Word Processors and check the box 'Use Classic Add Citation Dialog.'
